Celebratory/Commemorative Cricket Tie
This is
the collectors tie that you've been waiting for. 2003 has seen the
premier event in one day international cricket but regrettably we
have also seen the work of at least one little Tin Pot Dictator
(TPD), Robert Mugabe. The courageous stand taken by two Zimbabwean
cricketers Andy Flower and Henry Olonga, who at great personal risk
wore black armbands to the tournament to mourn the death of democracy
in Zimbabwe resulted in both Flower and Olonga leaving their country,
the latter to avoid losing his life.
The tie
Australia
and England have the Ashes; Zimbabwe has the ashes of democracy.
It is appropriate to commemorate the courage of Flower and Olonga
by producing this high quality piece of memorabilia. The quality
tie will be produced in silk by the cricket department (Cricketers
without boundaries)in the striking colours of Zimbabwe - green,
gold, red and black with a logo - a red flower rising out of a broken
wicket, both bails dislodged and one missing to provide the ashes.
Make of the symbolism what you will.
Sale proceeds
Fifty per
cent of the proceeds of sale will be donated to sporting charity,
hopefully the Lords Taverners Victorian Branch in lieu of cricket
in Zimbabwe to prevent the funds falling into the wrong hands and
being misused. This well known and fun loving charity as one of
its objectives donates to provide sporting facilities, equipment
and opportunities for underprivileged and/or disadvantaged children.
Reward yourself, support a good cause and help point out that people
should stand up to TPDs. TPDs need to be told!
The cost
of this silk tie is $55.00 (incl post, packing and GST).
