The VSR
had its genesis as a colonial volunteer unit in September 1898.
After Federation it continued albeit under different names at times
and distinguished itself in both world wars. The title VSR was resumed
between 1925 and 1939 and again between 1948 and 1960.
The VSR's
traditions live on today in the Pipes and Drums of the 5th/6th Battalion
of the Royal Victoria Regiment (an Army Reserve Unit).
The VSR
Association for many years wore the distinctive and much sought
after tie depicted on this site. It is no longer obtainable but
is being remade in this popular design.
